Bill Murray is a lot like Chevy Chase in the way that they don't make a lot of friends on film sets. He tends to say problematic things or make people uncomfortable on set. For actress Lucy Liu, she wasn't inclined to let this slide on the set of Charlie's Angels. Now, she's explaining why she confronted him.

Recently, Liu spoke with The Guardian and addressed her back and forth with Bill Murray. Ultimately, she didn't even think twice about it. She explains how she's not the kind of woman where people can walk all over her. "I really didn't think about it," Lucy says. "I would've done that in any situation, I think when I sense something is not right, I am going to protect myself. It's an innate thing to do if you feel there's injustice, and I always feel that way."
Bill Murray Hurled Insults at Lucy Liu on Set of Charlie's Angels
So what exactly happened between Lucy Liu and Bill Murray? Back in 2021, she spoke on the Asian Enough podcast for the Los Angeles Times. There, she doesn't exactly get into the particulars. However, Liu does note that he was hurling insults at her and wasn't inclined to let him slide just because of his status. "I couldn't believe that [the comments] could be towards me, because what do I have to do with anything majorly important at that time? I literally do the look around my shoulder thing, like, who is he talking to behind me?" Lucy recalls.
"Some of the language was inexcusable and unacceptable, and I was not going to just sit there and take it," Lucy continues. "So, yes, I stood up for myself, and I don't regret it. Because no matter how low on the totem pole you may be or wherever you came from, there's no need to condescend or to put other people down. And I would not stand down, and nor should I have."
