Looks Like Justin Timberlake Is Ready to Make His Country Debut

Superstar Justin Timberlake may be preparing to make moves into the country music genre.

The pop star has always been vocal about his love for country music and his home state of Tennessee. Now that he seems to be gearing up for his next musical project, many think that a step into the country scene is the most logical move for the artist.

In an interview with SiriusXM’s The Highway, Timberlake mentioned his intentions to make a country album all the way back in 2013. “[I] grew up outside of Memphis, Tennessee. Listened to country music, R&B music, classic rock, you know, everything … I still got my eyes set on a Best Country Album. There is time for that.”

During his 2014 20/20 Experience World Tour stop in Nashville, Tenn., Timberlake even had Garth Brooks join him on stage for a rendition of his hit, “Friends in Low Places”. Now, it seems like the wheels are in motion for the pop star to get involved in a more country-oriented project.

On June 1, Timberlake announced he purchased a 126-acre area of land southeast of Nashville, not far from major country stars Alan Jackson and Trisha Yearwood. This permanent residence just outside of the Music City seems like a big indicator of a larger involvement in the country music scene. Many fans and critics have recently directed attention to a tweet from Timberlake in 2014 about one of this year’s most talked about artists, Chris Stapleton.

The tweet has even spun up rumors that the two may be planning to work on a project together. Although neither artist has responded to these rumors, many think it only makes sense for Timberlake and Stapleton to collaborate in the near future.

When you look at all the evidence put together, it seems like it’s only a matter of time until Timberlake sinks his teeth into a purely country project. Until then, fans will have to wait patiently to see what the innovative artist has up his sleeve.
