Why Is the Longtime CNN Anchor Leaving?

Golodryga announced her departure on social media yesterday, Oct. 22. However, she did not share her next move.

"After nine wonderful years at CNN, I've decided to leave for an opportunity that I couldn't pass up," she wrote on X. "I'm grateful for the experiences, friendships and support from fabulous colleagues during my CNN years. Exciting news to share very soon!"

A CNN spokesperson confirmed the departure yesterday morning. They said her last day is today, Oct. 22, and she is expected to sign off at the end of her broadcast.

The spokesperson added that Golodryga's co-anchor on One World, Zain Asher, will remain in the anchor position.

Sources say Golodryga could be headed to the online outlet Politico. Variety also reports that she is in talks to join CBS News as a contributor.

Before joining CNN as a correspondent in 2017, Golodryga was a correspondent for CBS News. She also co-hosted CBS This Morning.

Bianna Golodryga Is the Second Anchor To Leave the Network This Week

On Monday, October 19, Christiane Amanpour announced that she plans to exit CNN in June of next year.

"After many months of thought and a few sleepless nights, I have decided to separate from CNN, my partner of 43 fantastic years," she said in a statement.

Amanpour added that she "looks forward to interesting new projects down the line, and will always be rooting for CNN and maintaining its history of independent journalism. Remember: always be truthful, not neutral."

"Christiane has thought carefully about this decision, and she and I have been discussing it for some months," said Mark Thompson, the chairman of CNN, in a memo. "Like so many CNNers who will hear the news today, I'm very sorry to see her go, but I've come to accept that this is the right time for her, both personally and professionally."

Born in London, Amanpour has earned numerous prestigious professional awards. They include several News & Documentary Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, a George Polk Award, and an Edward R. Murrow Award.
