Local Town Rallies Against Buc-ee’s in Bizarre Logo Battle

Buc-ee’s is facing some pushback over a legal issue with a small mini-mart in Ohio, and it all started over a logo.

There aren't many establishments more beloved than Buc-ee's. People travel from all over the world to enjoy the Buc-ee's experience. However, for one small town in Ohio, the chain has become somewhat of an enemy.

It all started over a beaver logo.

Buc-ee's is reportedly suing a small convenience store called "Beaver's Mini-Mart" over its cartoon beaver logo. As such, locals in the area have begun to fight back.

"The Texas-based travel center chain filed a federal trademark lawsuit against Beaver's Mini Mart in Beavercreek, Ohio, on July 28, arguing its smiling beaver branding could cause customers to believe the two businesses are connected," Dexerto reports.

According to Buc-ee's, the logo is too similar to its own. However, the chain likely didn't anticipate such pushback from locals in Beavercreek. More than 20 other small businesses in the area have reportedly incorporated beavers into their logos, albeit temporarily. The move is aimed at showing solidarity with the mini-mart.

Furthermore, Beavercreek, as a city, is now involved.

"On August 10, Beavercreek City Council unanimously passed a resolution formally recognizing the beaver as a permanent part of the community's more than 200-year history," Dexerto noted.

Beavercreek Locals Have Launched a GoFundMe To Help Fight Buc-ee's

A GoFundMe has also been set up to help cover the store's legal bills. It has now risen north of $77,000.

"Beaver's Mini Mart has been a staple in Beavercreek, Ohio, serving the local community with care and dedication," the description of the GoFundMe reads. "The owner is a hardworking member of our town, always ready to lend a hand and provide a welcoming place for neighbors to gather. Now, the mini mart is facing an unexpected challenge that threatens its future."

The description then continues by calling on locals to help fight against Buc-ee's considerable spending power.

"We need your help to keep our small town community Beaver's Mini Mart open. By donating, you are taking a stand with us to ensure that small mom and pop stores—like Beaver's Mini Mart, the backbone of America—are not swallowed up by big businesses."

Currently, there's no further information regarding the status of Buc-ee's battle with the mini-mart or Beavercreek. However, it's clear that this whole situation has the potential to gain national attention, and that is something Buc-ee's would likely want to avoid.
