Country music said goodbye to many greats this year, including Don Williams and Troy Gentry. But one of the most heartbreaking losses was the passing of Glen Campbell. Little Big Town supplied one of the most surprising tributes of the night with their cover of "Wichita Lineman."
The group were joined by acclaimed songwriter Jimmy Webb, who wrote the 1968 trademark hit for Campbell. Their performance focused on their mind-blowing harmonies and slowed down tempo, which brought a new poignancy to the song. Campbell's family accepted the award for Musical Event of the Year on behalf of Glen. He won the award for his rendition of "Funny How Time Slips Away" with Willie Nelson.
