Lionel Richie Undergoes Testing After Latest Health Scare
Richie's latest health scare occurred on Saturday following his show at the Muny Amphitheater in St. Louis, Missouri.
Concerns grew after the singer struggled to finish the concert before checking himself into a local hospital.
Doctors initially reportedly explored "slight dehydration" as a possible explanation for the issues.
Several videos circulated online showing Richie sitting down multiple times during the performance before addressing the crowd about his health.
"Some things have been happening on this tour that kind of shook me up a little bit, because I couldn't figure out what the hell was going on," he told the audience.
"I went back to the doctor, and he said, 'You are suffering from dehydration.'"
As he continued to struggle, Richie said, "When you're feeling dizzy, sit your ass down," before abruptly leaving the concert.
Health Issues Continue to Interrupt North American Tour
Richie is currently co-headlining a 26-date North American tour alongside Earth, Wind & Fire.
Health issues have interrupted the tour several times, with the singer previously requiring hospitalization in June.
Richie fell ill onstage at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, forcing him to end the concert early and seek medical attention.
The legendary musician subsequently canceled shows in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio.
Despite the canceled performances and hospitalizations raising concern among fans, Richie reassured his followers in a July 4 Instagram post.
"Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love," he wrote. "I'm doing well, and I'm grateful for all of you."
Despite the latest reports surrounding his hospitalization and ongoing medical tests, Richie has yet to publicly address his latest health scare.
The next show on Richie's current tour is scheduled for September 26 at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
Throughout October and November, he will perform six shows at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas before heading to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to round out the year.
