Lionel Richie Concert Called Off Due to Medical Emergency

The Lionel Ritchie concert cancellation was announced just ten minutes before its starting time by the venue on social media.

A Lionel Richie and an Earth, Wind, & Fire concert had to be called off due to a medical emergency. As reported by the New York Post, the concert was due to take place in the Chase Center in San Francisco on Thursday, August 6.

Fans were left in the dark as they waited to enter. However, the arena took to social media to announce the sudden cancellation just 10 minutes before its 7:30pm start time.

The Chase Center confirmed that a member of Earth, Wind & Fire was unwell. However, the exact member was not confirmed.

"Tonight's show with Lionel Ritchie will be rescheduled," the post explained. They also confirmed that a new date would be announced "soon".

They clarified, "Ticket holders should retain their tickets, which will be honored for the new date, or refunds will be available at the point of purchase." However, a new date has not currently been announced.

The tour is still set to march on, with its next date being Saturday, August 8 in Palm Desert.

Lionel Ritchie Had to Cancel Concerts Previosuly

Although Lionel Ritchie luckily wasn't unwell for this concert, fans were worried that he might have been the reason behind this cancellation, too.

That's because, as we previously reported, Lionel Ritchie had felt "dizzy" at a concert in St. Paul in June, causing it to end abruptly. This also led to two other concerts being cancelled.

He later took to social media to announce that he was feeling better, and that he intended to break his silence.

""Thank you for every message, every kind word, and for all your love," he wrote. "I'm doing well, and I'm grateful for all of you. Pittsburgh and Detroit were an absolute joy."

"The energy, the dancing, the faces in the crowd... we made real memories together. See you in Toronto... let's party all night long!"

And he certainly did go back to partying, with him completing his tour with no other issues - other than this setback, of course.

In any case, we hope that Earth, Wind & Fire can get back to touring soon. And, that Lionel Ritchie can join them!
