Lindsey Vonn's Olympic dreams have come to an abrupt end. The talented skier suffered a horrific crash just 13 seconds into her race. She could be seen tumbling, bouncing, and flipping in the snow. Once she landed, she needed medical attention, eventually being airlifted to receive further medical treatment.

Shortly after the horror crash, Lindsey's sister, Karin Kildow, told NBC that Vonn's family is hoping for the best.
"That definitely was the last thing we wanted to see. It happened quick. So when that happens you're just immediately hoping she's okay," Kildow told NBC. "It was scary because when you start to see the stretchers being put out, that is not a good sign."
Kildow then highlighted how important competing at this year's Winter Olympic Games had been to her sister.
"I know she put her whole heart into it and sometimes, just, like, things happen," Kildow said. "It's a very dangerous sport. And there are a lot of variables at play. I don't really know exactly what happened. It did look like a pretty rough fall. We're just hoping for the best. I think she is being evaluated right now is the only thing we've heard, hopefully we'll hear more soon."
Despite her crash, Team USA still secured gold courtesy of Breezy Johnson.
Lindsey Vonn Recently Addressed Her Return From Retirement
Less than 24 hours before Lindsey Vonn crashed, she released a statement on why she's come out of retirement via her Instagram page.
"Just getting to these Olympics has been a journey, and one that some did not believe in from the start. I retired for 6 years, and because of a partial knee replacement, I had the chance to compete one more time," Vonn wrote. "But why? Everyone seems to be asking me that question. But I think the answer is simple... I just love ski racing."
While Vonn didn't get the fairytale ending she was hoping for, her bravery and commitment are commendable. Furthermore, she will still return to retirement with a 2010 gold medal and a 2010 and 2018 bronze medal.
There have been no further updates regarding her current status following the crash.
