Opening act 2 Chainz kept the crowd engaged, followed by a DJ. Lil Wayne (his actual name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) was supposed to take the stage at 10:45 p.m., per the outlet. Nevertheless, fifteen minutes later, the audience was told that he would not be performing. However, no reason for the cancel was provided. You can imagine the shock and distress of those who were expecting to see Lil Wayne. Per Page Six, "Waterfront Concerts President Alex Gray apologized to the crowd...."
The Show Has Reportedly Been Rescheduled
According to WABI5, Lil Wayne's show wil take place on July 28. That may not placate everyone, though. One fan said that she traveled for hours to be at the concert that never materialized. Rita Sack claimed that she drover for hours from Nova Scotia to see the legendary rap artist. Per the outlet, she said, "Well, I came here for Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, and it was the most terrible experience. We drove over six hours to be here,"
She added, "Never mind the money. It's like, moments in life and that was going to be a moment. [My friend] left her six-month baby for the first time. Like, it's people's time. Just don't waste people's time. We paid for Lil Wayne. Like, the least you can do is come out for a minute, apologize, you know? Like, just take the moment and be like, hey guys, sorry, not feeling it, feeling a little sick."
Lil Wayne Did Issue an Apology
Actually, the star finally did issue a seemingly remorseful apology on Instagram. Whether it satisfied his fans is unclear. Lil Wayne wrote, "My Maine fans I'm so sorry...The show is being rescheduled to July 28. Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date. More information will be emailed directly to ticket holders. I ain't [expletive] without you. Can't wait to come back and give you the show you deserve."
Nevertheless, he still did not supply an explanation for his no-show. According to TMZ, though, Lil Wayne allegedly "wanted to party instead of perform." He was reportedly seen at a get-together in the tony Hamptons on Wednesday, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Kevin Durant and Alicia Keys. In fact, the outlet qualified their story. They said that they are not absolutely sure this is the reason for Lil Wayne's inability to show for his performance on Tuesday. But it's an interesting theory.
