Kravitz's Rep Shuts Down Viral Rumor

In a statement shared by The Hollywood Reporter, the rep said that Kravitz was not aboard the plane. And all of the reports suggesting that he was are "untrue and incorrect."

The mishap led to a bevy of reactions on social media.

"Glad Lenny Kravitz's rep shut that down fast; the people lost in that Palm Beach crash deserve better than hoaxes," one user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Thankfully, Lenny Kravitz is safe and unharmed. Sending love and heartfelt prayers to everyone affected by this tragic plane crash," a second user added.

"We live in a world where people like to dream up lies lol I'm sick of it," a third user remarked.

Users Misidentified Pilot

The rumor began to circulate after internet detectives dug up an old post by 21-year-old pilot Emily Shelton. Shelton was incorrectly identified as the pilot who was flying the plane. Based on a screenshot of an August social media post where she shared her excitement over flying Kravitz to the Bahamas.

"Honored to be flying the one and only Lenny Kravitz from [Austin's airport] to [a Bahamas airport] tomorrow. Looking forward to having him on board. 'It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over' is gonna be playing in the cockpit," the post read.

So many people used the incorrect information to draw the connection. They assumed Kravitz was also on the plane. Shelton released a statement following the mishap, confirming that she was not the pilot.

"I was recently made aware that there are rumors that I was the pilot of the recent crash in Palm Beach," she wrote on TikTok. "So I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. So I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation about this tragedy and be respectful of those involved. My heart goes out to all those lost and affected."
