If you're a fan of heavy metal, odds are that you've got some Mastodon in your playlist. The sludge metal group, which originally rose to prominence in the early 2000s, is a legend of the millennial era. And now, you could get an opportunity to see them live once more.

The group has announced a world tour, with a string of dates scattered across the UK and Europe.
"We are excited to head back to Europe and the UK this summer! We'll be hitting some festivals and playing some headline shows with support from @loatheasone! Tickets on sale Feb. 6, 11AM CET. See you on the road," the group announced via its Instagram page.
Unfortunately for some fans, Mastodon's world tour doesn't actually cover the whole world. Italy, Brazil and many other countries are all outside the scope of the tour.
Still, there's more than enough dates for a large portion of Mastodon's fanbase to get in on the action. Playing at festivals is also a great way to reach an audience and potentially generate new fans. So, it would appear the tour has been well planned and should cover multiple bases.
Brent Hinds Died Just 5 Months After Leaving Mastodon
Brent Hinds was a founding member of Mastodon. Unfortunately, just five months after leaving the band, he was tragically killed in a motocycle accident.
"On Wednesday, Hinds was riding a Harley Davidson through Atlanta when a driver of a BWV SUV failed to yield while making a turn at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Boulevard," Atlanta News First reported at the time. "Details about Hinds' death are unknown at the time, but the Fulton County medical examiner's office confirmed his death to the news outlet."
Following Hinds' passing, Mastodon released a statement on social media.
"We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we've shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many. Our hearts are with Brent's family, friends, and fans. At this time, we please ask that you respect everyone's privacy during this difficult time. RIP Brent."
Nick Johntson has been chosen to fill in for Hinds on the upcoming tour, and will likely feature on the band's upcoming album, too. Still, Hinds legacy with the group will live on, as will the exceptional music he produced.
