Legendary sitcom actor Richard O'Sullivan has died at the age of 82. He was most well known for starring in the 1970s sitcom Man About the House.
The Royal Variety Charity, which supports those who work in entertainment, confirmed his passing in a statement, per the BBC.
Giles Cooper, a spokesperson for the charity, said, "Richard O'Sullivan was a master of effortless charm and impeccable comic timing, bringing pure warmth, wit, and unforgettable joy to millions of living rooms as a true giant of British television."
Cooper added that the sitcom legend will be "sorely missed by us all at the Royal Variety Charity." His cause of death was not immediately disclosed.
O'Sullivan was a mainstay in British television throughout the 70s and 80s. Whilst he was most well known for his performances in Man About the House, he also starred in shows such as Robin's Nest, Doctor at Large, Dick Turpin, and Me and My Girl.

Tributes Poured in for the Sitcom Legend
James O'Sullivan, Richard's son, also released a touching statement about his father's passing. "My dad was as funny and charming in real life as he appeared on our TV screens over the years.
"Although much of his career happened before I was born, I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy and witness his incredible talents on the countless re-runs of his shows that made him the respected and loved actor that he was."
He also thanked the staff at the care home where he passed, Brinsworth House, for their "love, kindness, and care."
Commenters on social media were devastated by the passing of the sitcom legend. One wrote, "He was the greatest actor of his generation, making comedy look simple and solid drama even more effortless. He was a rascal and I loved him, RIP."
BAFTA-nominated actress and co-star Sally Thomsett also wrote, "I have just woken up to the most dreadful news... I am lucky to have the most wonderful memories of him that will never leave... He was loved by so many."
