"I thought this was it, you had a wonderful life, Tommy, but it's over now," the 86-year-old singer told the crowd at the Nov. 4 at Greek Theater in Los Angeles, per The New York Post.

The "It's Not Unusual" singer told fans he was rushed to UCLA Medical Center with a severe case of pneumonia.

"And then they had to get the paramedics in, and I was like, I can't breathe," Jones recalled, speculating that he developed pneumonia after a bout with the flu. "UCLA did a wonderful job, so I'm here," he added, referring to his two-day stay in the ICU.

After nearly a week in the hospital, the "What's New Pussy Cat" singer said the medical staff asked him what he wanted to do next. "I have to get back on the stage; that's where I belong," he claimed he shot back at the doctors.

Of course, fans at the singer's grand return to the stage went wild after the moment was recounted.

Tom Jones Recalled Hitting the Stage at The Greek Theatre Back in 1969

The veteran singer then looked back on the first time he'd played the legendary venue back in 1969. Then, before belting out his signature tune "It's Not Unusual," he noted: "This song really changed my life."

Jones was originally set to hit the stage at The Greek Theatre on Oct. 26. However, he had to reschedule due to the serious illness.

"I've had a great time these last few weeks, completing 20 shows and singing for wonderful audiences across the USA, but unexpectedly I've been hit with a bad case of the flu," the "Sex Bomb" singer wrote at the time.

The replies to the veteran singer's X post were met with plenty of support.

"So sad to hear you're feeling unwell. Rest and recover. Take care of yourself. Your fans will always be here," one thoughtful onlooker wrote.

Meanwhile, the singer's "Come Gather Round" continues with a stop in Yaamava Resort and Casino in Highland, California on Nov. 6.
