Jon Bon Jovi was forced to take a break from performing in 2022 because a vocal cord had atrophied.

He said at the time, "No one anticipates an injury like that. And it's up to God to fix it or not, but I'm certainly right next to the Lord himself working on it."
The prayers must have worked, because the "Livin' On A Prayer" singer told PEOPLE that he is now "fully recovered."
It Took a Lot of Work for Jon Bon Jovi To Recover
It took years of vocal exercises and working with coaches for Bon Jovi to regain his voice, as well as a considerable amount of patience for the members of the band that bears the singer's name.
"They never doubted [me] and never looked for work or decided to retire. The sacrifices that each one of them have made to be there for me is on a whole 'nother level," said Bon Jovi. "They said, 'No, we're with you.' Every day of every rehearsal, they were there with me. My love for them has only deepened."
However, the 64-year-old is still bewildered over what caused the injury in the first place. He says he's a trained vocalist who knows how to protect his vocal cords.
"I've practiced the craft," said Bon Jovi. "So when a doctor had to explain to me that one of the cords was literally atrophying, it was confusing."
Now the Band Is Going On Tour
The band Bon Jovi will kick off its tour with a Madison Square Garden residency starting on July 7. After that, it will head to the United Kingdom at the end of August for some dates.
"I'm not that applause junkie," Bon Jovi said last year. I do it for the joy, and I do it for the art. The rest of it is great because I'm good at it. But if you couldn't do it from a place of joy, what's the motivation? I have other things in my life. It's what I do. It's not who I am."
One of those other things is his granddaughter. The rocker's son, Jake Bongiovi, and his wife, actress Millie Bobby Brown, adopted her last year.
"So the simple joys of waking up with my granddaughter today, playing tennis with some guys that I've never met before, staring at the little puffy cloud in the sky," shared Bon Jovi. "This is it. This is as real as it gets. That's joy."
