Benante revealed the news in a recent post to his Instagram account.

"I'm incredibly grateful that Darby Todd will be stepping in behind the kit for these dates and helping keep the shows rolling while I recover," Benante said in the post. "I'm already focused on getting healthy and look forward to being back on the road soon. Thank you all for the support and understanding."

Darby also took to social media following the news being made public. Posting

on Facebook, Darby shared his excitment to be filling in for Benante.

"I played an amazing show with Anthrax at Hellfest today," Todd wrote. " I'm filling in for Charlie Benante until July 4th on their tour while he has been ordered to rest his hand injury in order to heal and not do any further damage. Let's wish Charlie a quick recovery. It's a pleasure to cover for him in such a great band."

Anthrax has been around for decades. The group was at its height of popularity in the mid-80s to early 90s. However, even now, they remain a staple within the metal community. According to Spotify, the group still pulls in over 1.2 million monthly listeners on the platform.

"Madhouse" is the bands top track on the streaming giant, with over 77.3 million plays in total. "Got The Time" is second, boasting 65.5 million streams. "Bring The Noise" rounds out the top three with 42.6 million.

Therefore, it's easy to see why Darby is so excited to share the stage with the legendary rock group. The experience and exposure will both be fantastic, as, of course, will be the memories.

Nevertheless, Darby's tenure with the group will likely be short lived. As soon as Benante is cleared to return to the drums, he will likely be back with the group as they continue making their way around the world
