Lee Brice Once Gave Morgan Wallen Advice Before He Was Famous

Morgan Wallen fans might have Lee Brice at least partially to thank for his success. In a recent interview, Brice reveals he gave Wallen advice years ago, along with predicting Wallen's massive success.

"Morgan Wallen, he was doing a showcase one time," Brice recalls on Taste of Country Nights. "He didn't have anything going on. This showcase was kind of looking for a record deal kind of thing."

Wallen was playing with a band at Nashville's legendary Tootsie's, when Brice had the chance to speak to him after his performance.

"I grabbed him and I said, 'Man, I just want you to know, you keep being yourself," Brice remembers telling Wallen. "Keep doing your thing, and don't change, and I have a feeling people are gonna love it.'"

"Next thing I know, he got a record deal and got them cuts and next thing you know, he's Morgan Wallen," he adds.

Morgan Wallen's Success

Indeed, Wallen has had hit after hit after hit in recent years. The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year had one of his (many) hits, "Last Night," named in the Top 10 of Billboard's Top Hot 100 Songs of the 21st Century. Also, according to Forbes, Wallen is the "first musician to see three singles hit No. 1 on both [Billboard's] Hot 100 and the Hot Country Songs chart simultaneously."

Wallen also headlined his One Night At A Time World Tour last year, one of the biggest tours of any artist, in any genre. Its success might not have surprised country music fans, but it did surprise Wallen.

"You know over the span of almost ten years, now, there was times in that period where I doubted myself," Wallen admits in a video to his fans. "I doubted my voice ... My fans have made it abundantly clear that you want to hear my voice and you do care about it. So I just wanted you guys to know how much I appreciate that and how much your support and the passion for my music for me as a person, how much it truly means."

Wallen recently celebrated another No. 1 hit, with "Love Somebody. His current "I'm the Problem" single is in the Top 25.
