Sooner or later, he'll need to step away from life in the NBA and begin exploring other avenues to chase success. Interestingly, LeBron may already have an idea of what that next chapter is going to look like, and it could involve YouTube.
The NBA legend went viral on Saturday, August 15, after he launched a personal channel on the social media giant. His first video was golf-based, which isn't surprising, as his love of hitting the links is well documented.
"What's up y'all welcome to the channel," LeBron said to open the video. "Today's gonna be a very special one. Today we are at Stewart Castle Country Club here in Scotland. We're here. Some of my ride or die brothers from 2016 NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers. You can turn the camera around and pan. We got JR Smith there. Oh the big dog, Channing there. Richard Jefferson there. Tristan Thompson and Kevin Love as well."
LeBron James Added Over 350K Subscribers on His First Day
LeBron James is one of the most recognizable names on the planet. If he truly sees his next step being on YouTube, then there's no doubt that he will be successful. After all, within 24 hours of launching his new channel, LeBron skyrocketed to over 350,000 subscribers. At that rate, he could hit a million within three or four videos.
Once he retires, LeBron's ability to draw eyeballs will only continue to grow. Sports fans will flock to see what his life looks like once he's out of the NBA. It will also give LeBron an opportunity to continue connecting with fans throughout the next stage of his life.
The only question left is whether his entire YouTube channel will be dedicated to golf, or whether he's explore other avenues. After all, he's already popular enough that he doesn't need to niche down.
