Paramount+ has just released a sneak peek trailer for its upcoming original series, Lawmen: Bass Reeves. This highly anticipated show will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ on Sunday, Nov. 5 in the U.S. and in all international markets where Paramount+ is available.
Lawmen is an anthology series that sheds light on the fascinating, yet largely untold, story of Bass Reeves (played by David Oyelowo), who went from being enslaved to becoming the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. Over the course of his career, Reeves arrested more than 3,000 outlaws, but the responsibilities of his badge took a toll on his family and his conscience. This series is just the beginning, as future seasons will explore the lives of other legendary lawmen and outlaws who left their mark on history.
The trailer shows Reeves firing pistols and bagging outlaws, overlayed with a monologue from him being sworn in by Judge Isaac Parker (played by the legendary Donald Sutherland), a real-life magistrate who sentenced so many people to death that he earned the nickname "The Hanging Judge."
The cast of Lawmen: Bass Reeves features notable talents like David Oyelowo, Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland, and Dennis Quaid. Guest stars include Shea Whigham and Garrett Hedlund, with Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Grantham Coleman, Tosin Morohunfola, Dale Dickey, Rob Morgan, Ryan O'Nan, Margot Bingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley and Bill Dawes in recurring roles.
The show was brought to television by executive producer Chad Feehan and is also produced by Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Christina Alexandra Voros, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin. It's a collaborative effort between MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, Yoruba Saxon, and is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of Paramount+ international markets.
