Watch Lauren Duski's Empowering New Video for 'Costume Party'

Lauren Duski won over viewers with her impressive '90s country covers on season 12 of NBC's The Voice. In the end, the Michigan native was named runner-up in the competition, but Duski is proving that her successful run on the popular show was only the beginning. In July, Duski released her debut single "Costume Party," a song about showing your true self without apology. Written by Duski and Justin Morgan, the song is a raw examination of self-esteem and humanity.

The music video perfectly reflects the song's message, putting the focus on Duski's fans. The video opens with two videos of young girls explaining their idea of what true beauty is, then cuts to Duski filming the video against a backdrop. The camera pans around, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the filming process. We then see clips of fans singing along, showing how the song and its message resonates with people from all ages and backgrounds.

"The letters from my fans really inspired me to say something this vulnerable in a song. People shared stories and vulnerability that I could've never imagined," Duski said in a statement. "So it only felt right to have them join me in the video. 'Costume Party' is for them."

'Costume Party' Lyrics:

I've got this closet filled with ways for you to see me
But none of them fit me
And I walk around and play pretend so that you'll believe that
I'm who I wanna be

But what if I let you see who I am?
Why is it so damn hard not to give a damn?
And what if I could show my flaws and not be sorry?
'Cause I'm over this whole costume party

And I can't seem to remember what it is I'm so afraid of
But it's all I've ever known
And I'm so tired of worrying about what they might see if
I leave the mask at home

So what if I let you see who I am?
Why is it so damn hard not to give a damn?
And what if I could show my flaws and not be sorry?
'Cause I'm over this whole costume party

And I'm stepping out of my own way
Out of this masquerade

What if I let you see who I am?
Why is it so damn hard not to give a damn?
And what if I could show my flaws and not be sorry?
'Cause I'm over this whole costume party
