The kids of late country icon David Allan Coe is going after his estate. Taking to social media, his family shared their side of the issue.

"ATTENTION ALL MUSICIANS, VENUES, AND BUSINESS ASSOCIATES OF DAVID ALLAN COE: Priority court judgments for long-overdue, unpaid family and child support have already been officially filed by us against our father's estate," the post read. "While some people have attacked us for holding him accountable to the family obligations he walked away from during his life, our priority is transparency and family honor. We want to ensure that everyone he owed money to has the exact same opportunity to be made whole."
The music icon passed away back in April at 81. His children also explained they were trying to protect their own financial interest.

"Under Ohio law, we have no legal authority over his estate and cannot pay any debts or invoices directly," the statement also added. "Your rights can only be protected by filing a formal written claim directly with the court clerk. Any claims can be submitted after the October deadline are legally barred forever."
As you can imagine, fans of the country music icon didn't appreciate the public post.
"Leave what he had to whom he wanted to leave it to and allow him to rest in peace," one person replied. "These things need to be addressed in life. There is no honor in doing it after death. Furthermore, he is no longer here to defend himself against anyone with a gripe, complaint and claim of debt (regardless of who they are) so if any wrongdoing did occur it's now void and paid in full. God Bless you D.A.C and may you rest in peace."
"I think this speaks volumes as to why he may have not allowed some people into his life," another wrote. "Hopefully the courts will refuse the requests, and they certainly have jurisdiction to do that. Roaches always come out of the woodwork after a passing!!! RIP DAC!!!"
