Willie Nelson Announces New Album, Drops Title Track 'Last Man Standing'

At the age of 84, country legend Willie Nelson is taking a hard look at life and his friends who have passed on in his new song "Last Man Standing."

Continuing with the reflective theme of his 2017 release God's Problem Child, Willie pairs upbeat accompaniment with some brutally honest thoughts on life and death.

"It's getting hard to see my pals check out, hurts like a wore out knife," Nelson notes, mentioning the deaths of close friends like Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard. "I've still got a lot of good friends left," he sings. "I wonder who the next will be."

"Last Man Standing" is the title track to Nelson's new record, due out on April 27, just two days before his 85th birthday. The record will feature 11 brand new songs penned by Nelson and producer/collaborator Buddy Cannon.

Nelson is still recovering from a bout of the flu that caused him to cancel all February tour dates. However, his family reports that he's "doing much better" and plans to get back on the road as soon as possible.
