The 80s was a great time, but it's no doubt that people tend to look on older times like they were perfect. Ryan Reynolds thinks that that's all a load of hogwash.
And Larry the Cable Guy is having none of it. He clapped back at Ryan Reynolds after he made some pretty stark comments about the state of the 80s during an interview with Variety.
Ryan Reynolds, in the build-up to him starring in Mayday, a show set in the 80s, explained his opinions on the decade. "The 80s was a brutal, brutal time for people," he said.
"It was a tremendous strife, socio-political tensions everywhere. We were still pretty fresh off a Cuban missile crisis, which was only 15-20 years before". That makes sense for him to mention that - his role in the show specifically sees him befriend a KGB officer as an American serviceman.
He continued, "It's a tumultuous period, but you look back at it now and you're like, 'Oh yeah, Top Gun, cocaine!' Like, no - it was really scary!". He also said that he believed the 2020s would be looked back on with rose-tinted glasses as the "COVID era", despite all the suffering that inevitably did come from that.

But Larry the Cable Guy took to social media to throw some serious shade at the actor.
His first gripe was Ryan Reynolds attributing the 80s to the Cuban Missile crisis. "Cuban Missile crisis? Uh no most of us didn't worry about it," he explained. "I only talked about it in history class because it was over in 1962!"
He went on to say that "The 80's were awesome," clarifying, "The 80's like any decade had some challenges but we just came outa the Vietnam war era and it was like a total relief."
He even compared living in the 80s to being "in a John Hughes movie".
Larry the Cable Guy finished his clapback by saying, "I'm sure x will have the normal people bitching and moaning about this post because they live in a constant state of anger but just like in the 80's I could care less about or have time for idiots that hate everything. The 80's rocked. Now excuse me while I pop on some Night Ranger and a little Huey topped with some classic Strait. Let's Git-r-done!"
