'Landman' Star Reveals Plot Twist that Had Her Calling Taylor Sheridan

Michelle Randolph, the actress who plays Ainsley on Landman, was recently on Today to talk about the hit Paramount+ drama from writer Taylor Sheridan, and Al Roker wanted some answers about where her character was heading next season.

Randolph shared with the morning weatherman that she's in the dark as much as he is, but she gave him and viewers a little something to whet their appetites.  We have the details below.

What Happens to Ainsley in Season 3 of "Landman"?

For those who watched the finale of Landman's second season, you know that Ainsley, the daughter of Billy Bob Thornton's character Tommy Norris, exhibited some personal growth as she began navigating college life at Texas Christian University.

Roker wanted to know where Randolph's character would head in the next season. Since Sheridan, who also created the hit series Yellowstone, is notorious for keeping things under wraps, the actress didn't have much to share.

"I wish I knew," said Randolph. "I am just as eager to find out. She's definitely going to college. I'm excited to see who she is outside of her family dynamic. I'm excited for her to be around her peers and off on her own."

Randolph Had To Call Taylor Sheridan About This Particular Plot Point

Randolph was also asked about the rivalry between Ainsley and her on-screen brother, Cooper, played by Jacob Lofland.

She admitted that she doesn't know why the characters hate each other so much. It's even caused her and Lofland to ring up Sheridan for answers.

"I get asked this all the time," she said. "We don't know. Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper, we've both called Taylor and said, 'Can you give us something to work off of?' It's really hard to hate each other, because he's one of my great friends."

She adds, "I think it's... until I find out otherwise, they are mirrors for one another. They each stand for everything the other person opposes. It's fun. I don't have that dynamic in my real life, so I get all my anger out at Cooper."

Hopefully, we'll learn more when the third season of Landman eventually debuts on Paramount+. But as we reported earlier this month, filming the show will be delayed, so we'll have to wait for answers a little longer than usual.
