Lainey Wilson Stagecoach Performance Delayed Due to Emergency Evacuation Notice

The weather attempted to put a stop to Lainey Wilson's headlining performance at Stagecoach. All it really did was slow down the inevitable.

Lainey Wilson has quickly ascended the country music ranks. And while Mother Nature attempted to put a stop to the "Somewhere Over Laredo" singer's headlining performance at Stagecoach Music Festival, all it really succeeded in doing was slowing down the inevitable.

What Happened to Lainey Wilson at Stagecoach?

According to the Los Angeles Times, the city of Indio, California, where Stagecoach takes place, was under a strong wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service.

The wind advisory, issued at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, intensified after 5 p.m. as Teddy Swims was performing.

A message popped up on the video screens:

"Emergency Evacuation

The festival has been postponed until further notice.

Please move quickly and calmly to the nearest exit."

The gates reopened later that evening, just before 9 p.m. Wilson took the stage at 10:30 p.m., an hour later than originally scheduled.

"Thank you so much for sticking out the wind," the singer told fans when her show eventually began, according to PEOPLE. "Hopefully you sat in y'all's cars for a bit and drank some tequila."

She added, "We came to Stagecoach to have a damn good time, and that's what we gonna do."

Wilson's Set Wasn't the Only One Affected by the Weather

The festival schedule shifted dramatically due to the delay. As a result, Journey and Riley Green had to cancel their sets.

"The show was pretty windy when we got there, but we went into a saloon to see one of our friends do karaoke," said one fan. "When we came out, palm trees were like bending in half."

She added, "I just feel bad for these girls walking around half-naked in this wind."

Most attendees remained calm as the festival grounds closed down.

"I didn't even know what was going on until I saw the screen [at the Mane Stage], and then I started hearing, 'Hey, they're evacuating, get out,' said one fan. "But then we had to sit it out because there was a clog at the exit. It's not that bad."

Maybe this situation just proves that Wilson is truly a force of nature.
