Kyle Busch's Widow Remembers Late NASCAR Driver in Tearful Father's Day Post

In a sadly ironic twist, NASCAR legend Kyle Busch died exactly one month before Father's Day. He passed away at the age of 41 on Thursday, May 21, from pneumonia that reportedly evolved into sepsis. His swift, shocking demise left fans and the entire racing community deeply shaken. His family was and still is stunned and grieving. Busch was a fierce competitor on the track. He was also a devoted dad and husband. When people call him an icon, the description is apt.

His widow, Samantha, penned a melancholy tribute on Instagram for her beloved late spouse on Father's Day. The two were married in 2010 and had two young children - daughter Lennix and son Brexton. Those kids were the center of their world. She posted a video of Kyle Busch playing with his adorable youngsters at different times in their lives. He was obviously full of paternal love and pride.

"The Father's Day Cards Were Already Made"

She wrote in part with gut-wrenching candor, "This still doesn't feel real at all. I was up all night thinking about what today should have looked like for Kyle and the kids. The Father's Day cards that were already made, sitting in a drawer with no one to give them to. Trying to figure out how to navigate a day that should be filled with so much joy for them."

The absence of such a loving spouse and dad torments those he leaves behind. Samantha Busch went on, "Kyle, the kids and I miss you every second of every day. Our hearts ache for you, but it's more than that. Your absence is something we physically feel. Our bodies hurt from missing you, from reaching for someone who isn't there, from loving someone we can't hold anymore."

Busch Was Respectfully Recalled at the Coca-Cola 600

A torrent of words marked Kyle Busch's passing. In fact, people could hardly say enough about the man, the racer. the husband, and the dad. One of the most moving tributes came at the Coca-Cola 600, Busch would have been competing in it had he lived.

Per People, Steve O'Donnell, the CEO of NASCAR, graciously said this in part at the track that day. "Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you, and that you and your children are NASCAR family forever. Brexton and Lennix, your dad loves you with all his heart. Everyone gathered here, everyone behind you, everyone watching on TV, and all those people up in that grandstand, they are your family, and we've got you."
