When you turn 81, you can throw whatever kind of party you want; the Krispy Kreme birthday party is rocking two ways to celebrate. The doughnut chain is introducing a special limited time birthday-themed doughnut and also offering fans a great one day only deal on a dozen doughnuts.
On Friday, July 27, customers that purchase any regular price dozen doughnuts at participating locations across the United States and Canada get an additional one dozen of the classic Original Glazed Doughnuts for only $1. This deal is only good on Friday, so get it while it's hot.
In addition, the chain is introducing its new Glazed Confetti Doughnut, which is basically a Krispy Kreme birthday cake doughnut complete with sprinkles. You can try the new doughnut starting Friday, July 27, but it's only around for a week so get your celebration in early.
"One of our favorite times during the year is when we get to celebrate our birthday with our fans," said Mike Tattersfield, chief executive officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. "In addition to offering a delicious dollar deal on an extra dozen of our Original Glazed® Doughnuts, we've 'birthday-ed' up our awesome Original Glazed® Doughnut, creating a whole new experience."
The special release Glazed Confetti Doughnut is a modern Krispy Kreme take on the nostalgic fan-favorite birthday cake flavor. This festive doughnut features a vanilla birthday cake-inspired dough with confetti sprinkles throughout, glazed in classic Original Glaze, and lightly topped with colorful sprinkles.

The doughnut chain also bought itself a birthday present this week in the form of a cookie company. JAB Holdings, which owns Krispy Kreme, acquired a majority stake in Insomnia Cookies, a fresh-baked cookie chain that stays open until 3 a.m. and offers cookie delivery.
