King Charles III attended London Fashion Week on Thursday, February 19. That in itself would not be remarkable. What was notable, however, was the fact that the monarch's visit to the event came on the same day that his younger brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, was arrested for possible wrongdoing in public office. The uproar is rocking the British monarchy to its foundation.

Andrew turned 66 today. He is suspected of "shar[ing] confidential information with [disgraced financier] Jeffrey Epstein while Andrew served as a trade envoy for the U.K.," per People. Andrew has previously consistently denied any impropriety in his conduct regarding Epstein.
The king was welcomed to Fashion Week "with cheers and shouts from the public," according to The Times of London. At least outwardly, for him, it was business as usual despite the furor engulfing Andrew. Per the outlet, "He sat in the front row, toured exhibitions, met designers and watched a fashion show."
The King Issued a Statement About Andrew
Using language that was unmistakably straightforward, King Charles, 77, issued a statement about the situation swirling around his brother. Per the BBC, he wrote, ""I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.
In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course. As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter. Meanwhile, my family and I will continue in our duty and service to you all."
He signed it Charles R.
Andrew Has Faced Increasing Questions About His Ties to Jeffrey Epstein
The former prince has been increasingly under a microscope because of his alleged relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender. There has already been significant fallout as well. Per the BBC, late last year, King Charles stripped Andrew of the title Prince. He was also required to vacate his home at Royal Lodge.
