Kevin Costner's Estranged Wife Christine Moves Out Amid Contentious Divorce

A judge ordered Christine to vacate the home by Monday, July 31.

Kevin Costner's estranged wife is officially moving out.

PEOPLE magazine confirmed Christine, 49, was vacating the premises on July 31 after moving trucks were spotted leaving the $145 million property in Santa Barbara, California. She had shared the compound with the 68-year-old actor and their children during their 18-year marriage.

"Christine is following the legal advice per the prenup and is vacating the family house," the source says, adding that she "will stay at a smaller house on the property that's been used as a staff quarter."

"This is a temporary solution," the insider adds. "She is still looking for another house. She is staying in the area to not disrupt the kids' lives. They will be back at school in the fall with their friends.

"Christine is trying to keep everything as normal as possible. Her sole focus is the kids."

The move comes at the last minute, as a judge had previously ordered Christine to vacate the home by Monday, July 31. Originally, she had requested until August 31 to move out, conditional upon reaching a child-support agreement. On the other hand, Kevin Costner had requested her to move out by July 13.

A source who knows Costner says "he was relieved" she held up her end of the arrangement.

Despite having filed for divorce on May 1, Christine had continued to stay in the house, even though her prenuptial agreement seemingly required her to leave within 30 days.

PEOPLE obtained court documents filed on June 30, where Costner's legal team argued that Christine had been making baseless arguments in her favor, attempting to justify her stay in his home.

The move comes on the heels of separate, back-to-back summer vacations with their three children Grace, 13, Hayes, 14, and Cayden, 16.

Christine was awarded $129,000 per month in child support from Costner. She had previously requested $248,000, an amount the actor's side argued was "inflated."
