Kelsea Ballerini Says It Was Hard To See Mean Comments About Her Online

The internet can be a harsh place. People sit behind their keyboards and say the kinds of things they would never have the guts to say to someone's face. Kelsea Ballerini has been on the brunt of a few harsh words online, and she has struggled to read the comments.

If you're in the public eye in any capacity, there will be people out to take a shot. This is why it takes a little training to learn to block them out. There is always a morbid curiosity to just check what people are saying, but it's never worth the mental damage. The best thing to do is just to get rid of all social media and leave it alone.

This was the initial move for Kelsea Ballerini when she found the comments sections online becoming too toxic. "I got rid of Twitter a long time ago. That was helpful. Twitter kicked my ass," she told People. Of course, Twitter can be hilarious, but the majority of it is either bots designed to spread hate or people who want to hurt.

She also admits to having slipped into Reddit for a while. There are few places so full of slimy, vitriolic neckbeards as Reddit. As a resource for finding someone with a solution to a niche problem, it's a goldmine, but for opinions, it's awful.

After a while, Kelsea Ballerini cut it all out, including Instagram and TikTok, simply staying away from the online toxicity.

It Took Time To Develop A Healthy Online Presence For Kelsea Ballerini

With time and discipline, Kelsea Ballerini admitted she's learned how to use online social media without filling her head with sickness. She told People that it's a double-edged sword. "I'm a people pleaser, and I like the feedback," she said. However, "I'm a girl. I'm sensitive. I'm an artist. If I see a mean comment, it affects me."

But her therapist gave her some good advice. She needs to care more about less.

Kelsea Ballerini managed to keep a healthy online presence and tune out the hate that comes with it. People often forget that there is someone reading the vile things they spew out online. Not everyone is that thick-skinned.
