Many celebrities have had to say goodbye to beloved pets lately. Jimmy Fallon's dog, Gary, passed away weeks ago. Miranda Lambert bade a fond farewell to her dog, Cher, and two miniature horses. Thomas Rhett had two dogs trot over the rainbow bridge to eternity.

Now Kelsea Ballerini is deeply grieving the death of her treasured dog, Dibs. He passed away on January 7 after being diagnosed with cancer a little more than a year ago. She made the very sad announcement on Instagram. The depth of her sorrow can hardly be imagined or conveyed. Her memories of Dibs are welling up, as are the endless tears. And maybe some faint smiles as well.
Ballerini Wrote Poignantly About Dibs and the Wonderful Life They Shared
The "Cowboys Cry Too" singer reached down into her heart to find the words to describe the extraordinary bond she shared for years with Dibs. It was obviously a connection like no other. That relationship was priceless to her and can never be duplicated. She is immensely grateful for all the time they had together.
Ballerini wrote searchingly, "my sweet dibs went to doggy heaven yesterday. he spent his last few days in his backyard looking at the sunshine and surrounded and visited by his forever people. there are no words to articulate his role in my life, but i couldn't have done the last ten years without him, and he will always be my soul dog...and i pray and believe we'll find each other in every life."
She added, " his love and reach can't be captured in an instagram photo dump, or in a caption, but here's a look at some happy from dibs. thank you for loving him so loudly with me. i feel like the luckiest girl in the world that i got to be his dog mom, greatest gift of my life."
She Posted Beautiful Pics and Videos of Dibs
Ballerini included some marvelous images of her dog in the tribute. One sweet snap shows him with Ballerini when he was just a pup. Another depicts him sprawled on his doggy bed in her home. A video lets us see Dibs frolicking on the beach. Yet another photo shows Dibs with a bib around his neck that reads, "My mom is my Entertainer of the Year" with two paw prints.
There are more lovely pictures and another post on an Instagram account called adognameddibs. The touching post reads in part, "I'm cancer free now, and my last days were so happy."
No pet could be cherished more than Dibs was by Kelsea Ballerini.
