Country singer Kelsea Ballerini is living large in NYC and loving it. She seems to be thriving after some personal challenges. One of the most painful has to be the end of her relationship with longtime beau Chase Stokes. Their February split is evidently permanent. Even when the dust settles, however, the hurt does not always cease. For clarity and deeper understanding, Ballerini said she turned to therapy. When the "Cowboys Cry Too" singer was a guest on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle on Friday, April 17, she opened up about undergoing a three-day therapy session in the wake of that romantic breakup.

Being in New York Has Been Restorative for Ballerini
She exulted about living in New York when she was on The TODAY Show. "I'm loving this chapter of life just because I really feel like I'm being really intentional about connecting to myself. Also, being off the road right now. This is my first time not touring in a while and being somewhere new and making new friends. I just haven't had the time to invest in myself like that for a while."
The artist is doing some work on herself as well. She also mentioned, "I just did a three-day intensive in Dallas, like, nine hours of therapy every day,"
What She Discovered About Herself
Kelsea Ballerini described what the value of the lengthy therapy session was for her. "It's just, again, a better understanding of myself and why I am a people pleaser. I'm learning that about myself. I think in this chapter of my life, again, I'm kind of like, 'You know what, I don't want to give anyone else the power to tell me how I should feel about myself or my choices or the life that I choose to lead.'"
Ballerini and Stokes Tried To Make Their Relationship Work
Staying together as a couple did not seem to be in the cards for these two. Although they tried, Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes eventually went their separate ways. Per People, a source noted earlier, "They still love each other, which is why they've kept trying to make it work. But their lives are in very different places right now. Figuring out where to live and how to truly merge their lives has been hard lately. It's been something they've gone back and forth on."
furthermore, the source observed at the time, "They just want to be happy though. They've been trying to figure out a situation where they are both happy together, but that doesn't seem possible at the moment."
