Newcomer Kelsea Ballerini is already breaking records with her debut single, "Love Me Like You Mean It".
The 21-year-old has reached the top of the Mediabase country radio singles chart with her first single, which hasn't been done since Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel" in 2006. "Love Me Like You Mean It" is also the first debut single from a solo artist, male or female, to hit number one since Sam Hunt's "Leave the Night On" in 2014. Ballerini joins the exclusive club of 11 female artists who have had their debut single top the country charts.
"To be in a group with artists like Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and Deana Carter that have had debut No. 1s and then had brilliant careers after that makes me so excited for what's to come," Ballerini said in a statement, according to NASH Country Weekly. "Today, I just want to celebrate with my team because it's a big victory for all of us, we've all worked really hard. Thank you, country radio, for making this HUGE milestone happen and making one of my biggest dreams come true."
Ballerini's debut album, The First Time, is available in stores and online now. She'll be hitting the road to promote her album with a handful of shows through July. A full list of upcoming tour dates has been posted at her official website.
