Grief affects people in myriad ways. Some lean into their faith for hope and consolation. Others rely on a strong support network of family and friends. Kelly Osbourne is opening up about the rocky personal journey she navigated after the death last year of her father, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne. Losing him was devastating for her. From Kelly's frank description, she really suffered mentally and physically. However, she at last seems to be on a healthy, forward-looking path. In fact, Kelly Osbourne addressed the subject of her anguish on a podcast recently.

"I Lost My Mind"
Kelly Osbourne acknowledged that she was beside herself with sadness when Ozzy passed away. The ordeal she describes was nightmarish in intensity. She shared with host Paul C. Brunson on the We Need To Talk podcast that she felt "broken in every way."
Kelly added, "I lost my mind. I was a shell of myself. I couldn't speak. I couldn't eat. I couldn't do anything. I was just empty, broken in every way a human being could possibly be broken, and completely unable to take care of myself."
She Initially Turned to Alcohol for Relief
To numb her pain, Kelly says that she began to drink. She also said that some people were not behind her for support during her trauma. Still, she survived the worst of it. Today, Kelly Osbourne is sober and back on her feet. Nevertheless, she will forever miss her dad and long for his comforting presence.
She confided to Paul Brunson, "I can honestly say, today I'm eight months sober. I have the most incredible people around me. I closed my circle because I lost a lot of friends. People don't like sadness, and they expected me to be over it."
Kelly declared, "And I will never be over it. I will never, ever be over it."
Ozzy Affirmed His Love for Her Right Before He Died
Kelly remembers her father telling her something poignant that she will likely carry with her always. Before his death, Ozzy Osbourne told her this. "He sat me down and said, 'Tots, I need you to know something. No matter what happens in this life, you can live the rest of your life knowing that there was one man on this planet [who] truly loved you, [who] truly loved you for every single thing you are. And that man is me.'" Kelly says he also added, "I love you more than anyone."
