Pop and country chart-topper Kelly Clarkson can now add "author" to her long list of professional accomplishments.
On Feb. 9, the crossover artist announced the upcoming release of River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, a children's book named after and inspired by her own daughter. Clarkson says she was inspired to begin the project after she began documenting the small milestones and experiences her daughter would be too young to remember.
"I started writing down these little fun stories, of like when we went to Australia and she got to hang out with some kangaroos, I just thought I'd write little cute stories for her and put little pictures with it," Clarkson says. "These little stories ended up turning into a book for each place we went."
Aside from creating a gift that her daughter would never forget, Clarkson hopes that the book will drive young readers to accomplish their own dreams, no matter how big or small.
"I guess my hope is for little kids to read River Rose and the Magical Lullaby and be inspired by it and know they can achieve anything and still dream big and make big things happen," she explains.
Clarkson is currently pregnant with her second child, which she recently announced will be a boy. She's been tapped for an appearance during the current final season of American Idol, but it's still unclear when exactly she will be featured.
