Kelly Clarkson Meets Incredible 7-Year-Old Drummer Who Went Viral on TikTok

Kelly Clarkson chatted with a drumming prodigy with a growing online presence.

On the same episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show that positioned Kelly Clarkson as a dream-come-true duet partner for singing teacher and viral sensation Lacey Schaffer-Thomas, the host found another piece for a could-be meme-able band: 7-year-old drummer Ryder B.

In the show-closing What I'm Liking segment, Ryder B. and his dad Jason joined Clarkson via a video call to discuss the clips of Ryder's drumming that've brought him attention from far and wide.

As his dad explains it, Ryder first displayed a grasp of rhythm and a love of rock 'n' roll at a very young age.

"From right away, he was all about the music," Jason said. "We didn't realize he was an actual musician until he was about 2 and he was playing drums on his high chair. He played a very recognizable Ramones song, and then in about a week, we got him a drum kit."

When asked by Clarkson why he gravitated toward the drums, Ryder said, "I love how it just comes from your heart. It beats you up." He added that this frenetic energy explains why his audience members headbang.

The clip Clarkson showed of Ryder playing live included a funny yet accurate caption: "We told School of Rock not to put him in a beginners class."

So far, Ryder has eclipsed 3,000 Instagram followers. He's got a glam rock look down pat and leads a three-piece band called Ryder B and the Masters.

Jason revealed that the trio will soon play the legendary Whisky a Go Go, a Sunset Strip venue in Hollywood that's part of rock lore. Ryder added that his band will record a live album —his first LP overall— at the show.

To support Ryder's blossoming career, show sponsor and ink pen company Pilot donated $1,000 to him.
