No one in country music can compare to Willie Nelson. At the age of almost 93, (his birthday is April 29), he has done it all, seen it all, and become a beloved giant of the genre. His incomparable singing and songwriting have defined not one but many cultural eras. Other singers look up to him in awe and respect. One of them is Kacey Musgraves. She recently discussed Willie Nelson and what makes him so special when she was interviewed by Zane Lowe for Apple Music.

Referring to him as "a true American legend," Musgraves, 37, teamed up with the fellow Texan on "Uncertain, TX" from her highly-anticipated LP, Middle of Nowhere. The album drops in Friday, May 1. It also has collabs with fan-favorite artists like Miranda Lambert and Billy Strings.
Musgraves Gushed About Nelson
She told Zane Lowe, "Anytime I can have everyone's favorite gangster great-grandpa on anything. I mean, I love him so much. He's the patriarch of truth, country music. He brings so many different kinds of people together, which is one thing I really love about him, and he's just incredible. I feel very lucky. This is our third time collaborating together." The two previously paired on songs like "A Willie Nice Christmas" and "Are You Sure."
She Marveled at His Uncanny Ability To Get a Song Recorded in One Take
Musgraves spoke with amazement at Willie Nelson's ability to nail a song in only a single take. In fact, she said, "He walks in, does the take, and literally, that's it. So it better work. He's like, 'I'm in my 90s... I'm giving you 30 seconds, and then I'm out.' I [expletive] get it. He's earned that. He's a true American legend, transcends space and time. He's amazing."
