However, the outspoken "Dry Spell" singer is now facing criticism for her recent tweet posted on Monday, April 13, which depicted Dolly Parton as Jesus—but interestingly, it's not for the reason you might expect.
What Did Kacey Musgraves Post?
In case you haven't heard, President Trump has faced considerable backlash from his supporters after he posted an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social.
The pic shows him in glowing robes and performing miracles. Essentially, he resembles the traditional Christian interpretation of Jesus Christ. Many people criticized the image as disrespectful and blasphemous.
USA Today reports that President Trump denied that interpretation. He eventually deleted the post.
"I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor," he said. "It's supposed to be me as a doctor making people better, and I do make people better. I make people a lot better."
Kacey Musgraves mocked the controversy by using a similar AI-generated image. For her post, she replaced the Son of God with the face of Dolly Parton. Behind her is the American flag waving in the air and the Statue of Liberty.
Musgraves Is Also Being Criticized
Although Musgraves' tweet has sparked its own controversy, much of it centers not on the image itself but rather on how it was made.
Many people, especially those in the creative field, believe that AI is coming to take their jobs. Those who commented on Musgraves' post wish she had gone through the trouble of hiring a graphic designer rather than posting an image generated by computational models and datasets.
"Was Photoshop down?" asked one fan.
Another added, "you get a pass this once for what it's referencing but please never use ai again queen, plenty of graphic designers (like myself) would've created this for free."
"Congrats on using up water and energy to make blasphemous AI slop," wrote another user.
