One of the biggest rule of thumbs I've found when considering a country artist is that they're probably conservative. Unless explicitly proven otherwise, they're more likely to lean to the right. A certain upbringing and environment informs those beliefs and it makes them pretty firm in their stances, problematic or not. However, oftentimes, these same artists aren't inclined to talk much about their social beliefs. You'll get a pretty broad love for America but that about covers it.
