Joy Behar Claps Back at 'The View' Co-Host for Mentioning Her Age

Let it not be said that the co-hosts on The View are dull. In fact, they seem to love to mix it up between themselves, sometimes rather heatedly. On the July 8 broadcast, Joy Behar seemingly took mild offense at Alyssa Farah Griffin's mention of her age. Behar is 83. Griffin is 37.

They Were Talking About Senator Mitch McConnell

The age topic came up on The View because of the panelists' discussion of Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell's lengthy absence from Congress. He has reportedly been in the hospital since June 14. There has been little information on why McConnell, 84, is hospitalized or what his particular health issue happens to be.

Griffin said, "Because this keeps being an issue, we have to find a way to have a conversation about the age and health of some of our aging members of the senate and our government, without people just shouting ageism and shutting it down."

She then went on, "I don't believe in age-capping who's in elected office. Our own Joy Behar is an example: Everyone ages differently. She's as beautiful as can be." The studio audience chuckled. Griffin kept going with her thought. She addressed this remark directly to Behar. "No, you look amazing, you're sharp as hell, not everyone is like that!"

Behar Was Evidently Not Pleased

In response to Griffin's comment, Joy Behar had a one word retort: "Biatch!" That brought more laughter. Griffin continued the polite backpedaling. "It was a compliment! Okay, my point being, everyone ages different. I don't think it should be a number."

Following a commercial, Behar underscored the fact that she is a comedian. Meanwhile, Griffin observed, "You can roast me any time, Joy!"

She Has a Youthful Appearance

Per People, Joy Behar said, "People think I had a facelift. I did not have a facelift. Basically, I just get Botox and filler." She credits her perennially young look to two key elements - thick hair and sleek skin. Behar explained, "I happen to have good skin. I inherited that from my mother. I don't really have a lot of wrinkles. And I'm lucky that I have a lot of hair. I do have a lot of hair; I never lost it."
