In celebration of the Country Music Association’s 50th anniversary, country artists have been paying homage to their favorite singers. Breakthrough artist Jon Pardi is the latest to take a stab at one of his all-time favorite songs for the CMA’s Forever Country Cover Series.
The “Head Over Boots” singer chose to cover one of Randy Travis’ biggest career hits, “Forever and Ever Amen.” It’s always a challenge to try and make an instantly recognizable song your own. Instead of trying to add frills or switch up the sound, Pardi wisely sticks to the pure country sound that made the song so widely beloved.
Now that’s the way to honor a country classic. Pardi has had plenty of practice when it comes to delivering great covers. Check out his recent rendition of George Strait’s “Nobody In His Right Mind Would’ve Left Her” here.
