New Johnny Cash Website Includes Comprehensive Recordings, Writings, Videos and More

Last Wednesday (July 24), Legacy Recordings and the John R. Cash Trust shared the new look JohnnyCash.com. The site's exhaustive listings of Cash's albums, award nominations and wins, television and movie appearances, tour dates and hand-written notes and lyrics live up to its tagline: Everything You Need to Know About the Man in Black.

Per a press release, the content covers Cash's 93 original albums and 162 singles in addition to compilations, soundtracks and various special guest appearances, including his work with supergroup The Highwaymen.  More than 2,300 Johnny Cash performances appear across the site, which features a detailed Song List to help fans track down specific songs (and particular versions) and the original albums and singles they were released on.

Other content includes Cash's chart history, a timeline including a "this day in history" feature, a 52-book list of published biographies and galleries ranging from press materials to rare family photos. You can even listen to the Man in Black read Jesus' words in red from the New Testament.

Fans are encouraged to submit photos and memorabilia associated with the nearly 4,300 tour dates listed, making at least part of the ambitious archival project crowd sourced.

The press release promises the debut of fresh content from the Johnny Cash vault and archive on a regular basis. Once you think you've hit all of the site's high points, there'll be new material to digest. No word on when more content might arrive, so it might be worth keeping the page's newsletter out of your spam folder.

"I am thrilled that everyone who loves my father and his music will now have a comprehensive place to learn more about the man, his life, and his ongoing legacy," said John Carter Cash in a press release.
