John Rich has released "Shut Up About Politics," a song he wrote with Fox News host Greg Gutfeld.
On Friday (May 31), Rich appeared on the Fox News talk show The Five, which features Gutfeld. On the show, Rich explained how the song came about.
"We had the chat about (how) it would be fun to come up with a song when you guys came to Nashville," Rich told The Five hosts of Gutfield's co-write. "I get your email...You had some really good lines and 'shut up about politics' was in there. So I pulled that one out and then built this song."
Proceeds from the song go to Folds of Honor, an organization which provides educational scholarships to children and spouses of deceased or disabled service members.

Rich has been fairly outspoken about politics in the past. Last year, he singer offered to debate pro-gun control artists on the issue. He also criticized Nike's decision to feature former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in their ads. (Kaepernick began kneeling during the National Anthem at football games in 2017 to protest police brutality.) The Big & Rich member tweeted a photo of his soundman, who had cut the "swoosh" logo off the top of his Nike socks in protest of the company's decision.
