British actor John Nolan dies aged 87, leaving behind a six-decade career and roles in 'Batman', 'Dunkirk' and 'Person Of Interest'.

British actor John Nolan has reportedly died at the age of 87. According to local outlet Stratford-Upon-Avon Herald, the veteran performer passed away on Saturday. No cause of death has been revealed at this time.

Nolan was perhaps best known to modern audiences for his role as Wayne Enterprises board member Douglas Fredericks in Batman Begins.

He reprised the role in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, appearing alongside Christian Bale in the acclaimed trilogy.

The 87-year-old was the uncle of filmmakers Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan. The pair frequently collaborated with him throughout their careers.

He appeared in Christopher Nolan's 2017 war epic Dunkirk, while Jonathan Nolan worked as a writer on the Batman trilogy.

Nolan also held a recurring role in Jonathan's hit television series Person of Interest. He played John Greer across 27 episodes between seasons two and five.

Veteran Actor Built Career Across Stage and Screen

Born in the UK, Nolan trained at the prestigious Drama Centre in London before honing his craft with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

He landed one of his earliest roles in 1965, appearing as "Ray" in an episode of ITV Playhouse titled "Lucky for Some."

His breakout came in the 1970 television mini-series Daniel Deronda. The appearances helped establish him as a consistent presence on British screens.

Nolan went on to appear in Shabby Tiger in 1973, playing Nick Faunt across all seven episodes.

Alongside his screen work, he remained deeply involved in theater, performing with the Royal Court Company and appearing at London's Richmond Theatre.

His most recent acting credit came in 2024 with the television series Dune: Prophecy, capping off a remarkable career.

Nolan is survived by his wife, actress Kim Hartman, their children Miranda and Tom, and two grandchildren.
