Joey Myron Does A 180 With "Souther Lover," A Huge Departure From His Last Track (Although I Love Both)

Joey Myron hasn't left us for too long as he returns with "Souther Lover." A groovy country tune that's an utter U-turn from his last single.

WOC are proud to debut Joey Myron's new single, "Southern Lover."

I'm now a pretty damn big fan of the artist after his raucous single "Watch Me Burn" that took the top spot of our weekly rankings. So I raced at the chance to premiere his next single.

And honestly, after being introduced to the artist with the raging "Watch Me Burn," hearing "Southern Lover" was like a culture shock. But it's the most welcome culture shock I've had.

"Southern Lover" is as smooth as butter and suave as a southern gentleman. It's got an undeniably summer undertone despite the charming low vocals. The single is a euphony of sound that made me feel like a slick and mysterious protagonist in a classic romance.

Minus all the things that haven't aged well, of course.

You can listen to "Southern Lover" by Joey Myron below. It'll be available on streaming platforms April 18.

"Southern Lover" Is A Tale Of Two Broadways

In a statement shared with WOC, Joey Myron explained the concept of "Southern Lover."

"The concept was born from realizing that both New York City and Nashville have two of the same-named VERY popular streets: Broadway," he explained.

"So I came up with the plot of a New York gal experiencing Nashville for the first time and meeting some Southern Charm, if you know I mean. Also thought it'd be cool to set it in the 70's to give some retro/disco/funk vibes to a country soundscape. Two very different worlds collide, where I play the secret 'Southern Lover' for a New York gal who has opened up to the world of biscuits and butter."

I do love a bit of storytelling in my songs, and it's clear as day here. I can't wait for the official release tomorrow to add it on my playlists.

It may be too early to objectively tell, but I'd be mighty surprised if "Southern Lover" isn't in the new singles ranking next week.
