This week has been full of positives for country singer Joey Feek, who is currently in the final stages of terminal cancer. At the start of the week, she learned she and her husband Rory earned a Grammy nomination, and soon after she announced her goal to live through the awards show and her daughter’s birthday on Feb. 17.
On Friday afternoon, the Feeks shared another piece of uplifting news: Joey was out of bed and playing with daughter Indy. In a photo posted to the Joey + Rory Facebook page, Joey is in good spirits out of bed and playing with Indy on the floor.
On Monday, Joey + Rory earned a Grammy nomination for their version of “If I Needed You”, a song originally written by Townes Van Zandt. Rory shared the couple’s shock at the nomination on his blog This Life I Live earlier this week.
“As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, ‘How can that be?’ The song received no radio airplay… no press… no critical acclaim… and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born.”
