Joanna and Chip Gaines may be busy flipping houses for their hit HGTV show, but that doesn't mean they aren't too busy for one another. In a recent Fox interview, Joanna dishes on the secrets to a healthy marriage. Her advice is something all married couples should pay attention to.
According to the star, she and Chip have a one-date-per week rule in their home. She says that this allows her and Chip to enjoy other romantic holidays a little differently. Here's what she had to say.
"Since Chip and I try to go on a date once a week, we don't feel the need to keep holidays like Valentine's Day all to ourselves," she says. "We set the table fancy, we all get dressed up, and we serve a big, beautiful candlelight dinner. It's our kids' favorite too. I'll never forget one year we served lobster, and Chip chased all the kids around the house with a lobster. It was hilarious!"
If you are a fan of the show, you can probably notice that Chip and Joanna appear to have a healthy relationship. Naturally, their relationship has had some rough spots. But, in the end, the couple says they try to have fun with their differences and support each other as much as they can. You can hear them talk about their relationship in this video.
Chip and Joanna Gaines met in 2001 and married in 2003, and today have four kids together. Both are graduates of Baylor University in Texas, which is one reason they base their business out of Waco, Texas. In addition to building their company, Magnolia Homes, over the past 12 years, they also built a huge following of viewers. However, the Chip was buying, renovating and selling homes in the Baylor area for much longer.
The first episode of Fixer Upper aired in April of 2014, and today the pair's popularity continues to grow. However, throughout all those changes, the couple remains faithful to one another and dedicated to keeping their marriage strong.
