Jimmy Kimmel Goes Scorched Earth on Trump's State of the Union: Watch

A lot of people have an opinion on the State of the Union address given by President Donald Trump yesterday. But among the late night hosts, Jimmy Kimmel spoke the loudest in an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! filmed after the speech.

His comments came months after the comedian commented on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. ABC then temporarily suspended his late-night show. It came after Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr pressured the network and its owner, Disney, to address the 57-year-old host's remarks last September.

After President Trump's 108-minute speech, Kimmel shared his disdain in his monologue. We have the highlights below.

Jimmy Kimmel Was Repulsed by President Donald Trump's Accusations

In President Trump's speech, he accused immigrants in Minnesota of "plundering America." This was a reference to the accusation that daycare centers operated by Somalis in Minneapolis have misappropriated millions in Medicaid funds.

During his monologue, Kimmel responded by calling President Trump "a nutjob wannabe king who's doing everything he can to censor opinions he doesn't want to hear."

"He has his goons arresting, incarcerating, and killing American citizens," said Kimmel. "He's cut funding for cancer research and children's hospitals while he rakes in literally billions of dollars for himself and his family. He's coming after our right to vote."

The comedian went on to say that President Trump is "protecting pedophiles and won't explain it. He's lining the pockets of billionaires, all while neglecting the sick, the poor, the hungry. In the name of Jesus, by the way, who you could read all about in a Donald Trump edition of the 'God Bless the USA Bible' that is made in China and available for $99.99."

"That is the State of the Union," he said. "When you ramble mostly incoherently for two hours, is that technically still a speech or does it at some point become a conniption thing?"

Kimmel Has Gotten a Boost From His War of Words With Trump

Jimmy Kimmel Live! received a ratings boost when he returned from his six-day suspension last year. He thought he had lost his hosting gig for good.

Kimmel explained a few weeks after his return that the decision to take his show off the air came down to a vote. He lost.

He said, "I thought, 'That's it. It's over, it's over. I was like, I'm never coming back on the air.'"
