Jill Biden's Secret Service Agent Just Accidentally Shot Himself in the Leg

The incident occurred in Philadelphia today, March 27. The secret service have said the agent was travelling in an unmarked Chevrolet.

A US Secret Service agent assigned to protect Jill Biden has shot himself in the leg. This comes after he was assigned to protect the former President's wife.

As reported by E! News, the incident happened at the Philadelphia International Airport today, March 27. Nate Herring, a secret service spokesperson, said that the incident happened at around 8:30am when a "negligent discharge" of his gun occurred.

Fortunately, 74-year-old Jill Biden wasn't present in the area when the discharge occurred. The incident apparently happened while he was travelling in an unmarked Chevrolet, according to a Philadelphia Police Department statement.

The Secret Service agent was taken to the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He is in a stable condition.

Jill Biden was in New York yesterday, March 26, where she was attending the opening of a play. Public Charge, a play written by her former chief of staff, Julissa Reynoso, was being premiered. It looks like the incident hasn't affected her current schedule.

Jill is set to travel around the country soon. She has a book tour planned for later this summer, as she is releasing her memoir. Her book View from the East Wing details her experiences as the First Lady.

The Secret Service Hasn't Been Doing the Best Lately

This comes after a pretty big failing last year. As you're probably aware, when President Donald Trump had an attempt on his life, several secret service agents were put on leave. And now, one of them has been suspended again.

According to the WLT Report, Myosoty Perez has been suspended after it was revealed she hadn't declared her relationship with a foreign national for over nine months.

As a secret service agent, you're required to be pretty transparent about your relationships. Especially if you're dating someone who's not from the US. Concerns have been raised about whether her partner could be a spy - although it's unlikely, things need to be certain when it's a matter of national security like this.

In any case, we're glad that no one has been directly hurt other than the secret service agent who shot himself today.
