Tattoos used to be a much scarier process. This idea of putting something on your body forever, having to live with it, it's a big commitment. Nowadays, it may be a little expensive but you can theoretically get them removed from your skin like it never even happened. Or others might simply cover it up with something new, acting like it was never there. Consequently, people are kind of flippant about getting tattoos, commissioning some truly awful art on their body. Jelly Roll has tons of tats but he's using his platform to tell people to think twice before taking that swing.

Recently, a clip from the Howard Stern show resurfaced online where the country crooner sits and regrets some of his ink based decisions. He has a few that he loves but his mindset about getting them has changed over the years. Ultimately, Jelly Roll emphasizes tattoos as a personal investment and you should spend your money accordingly. "That's probably one of the few I'd keep. I love my cross, I love my slash," he says. "So listen to me, if you're out there listening to this this morning and you're under the age of 25 and you're considering getting tattoos, I'd like to give you some wisdom that nobody gave me."
Jelly Roll Gives Sage Advice for Those Wanting Tattoos
"We will spend $300 on a pair of shoes that will go bad in six months, or we'll lose them. But as soon as a motherf****** wants $400 an hour to tattoo you, we're out. Thousand dollars an hour? No way. You know what I mean?" Jelly Roll continues.
He recalls knowing someone who would tattoo something on his arm for scraps. Consequently, the work was as bad as his investment. "I have a tattoo on my arm that I gave somebody like a quarter sack of bad weed for," Jelly Roll explains. "And it looks like a quarter sack of bad weed tattoo. They look decent, cause they're all grouped together, so you're like, they don't look horrible Jelly. It's like, until you dissect them and zoom in, you're like, these suck bad. It's just bad art. There's just no other way to say it."
So if you're seriously trying to ink your body up, make sure you aren't just going to anyone. Otherwise, you'll feel the embarrassment forever and you'll scrounge up for removal in no time.
