One of the reasons we love Jelly Roll is that he keeps it real. He doesn't try to hide behind his success. Instead, he'll share his losses as openly as he does his wins. It's the kind of transparency that helped him become one of the most beloved stars in the world in the first place.
So, it should come as no surprise that Jelly Roll recently shared his struggles with stress eating. His comments came via a recent video that was uploaded to YouTube.
"I'm like a drug addict," he said. "You can't eat that, because if I eat one, I eat two. I eat four."
His comments revolved around a recent slip, where he stopped at a venue that served one of his favorite things to eat: a dairy-free skillet cookie.
Unfortunately for Jelly Roll, that cookie opened the door to a downward spiral. He quickly found himself frequenting a taco truck, only to then hunt around for a candy bar later in the evening.
"That fast, now I've consumed 2,000 extra calories today that I didn't even see coming," he stated.
Jelly Roll Has Learned the Importance of Portion Control
Unfortunately for Jelly Roll, his struggles with binge eating aren't tied to just junk food.
"If you put a big bowl of strawberries in front of me and leave me alone, I will eat the entire bowl of strawberries," he declared.
As such, the superstar has been forced to learn about the importance of portion control.
"How you do anything is how you do everything," he said.
Fortunately, Jelly Roll recognized his slide and was able to course correct. Of course, that's something that comes with years of weight management and dieting. Nevertheless, he made sure to share his belief that weight gain is often an overlooked symptom of mental health struggles.
"You don't become the size you became without having a mental health issue," he explained. "It's something way deeper."
Hopefully, by being open with his latest slide, he will provide inspiration for others on a weight loss journey. After all, no one can be perfect every day; slips are bound to happen.
